About the studio

kwyjibo developments is an independent Brisbane based software development studio founded in 2021. The studio primarily focuses on developing mobile games that provide a unique experience. The studio may also consider other forms of applications and platforms over time. The studio is also available for bespoke applications and analytical work upon client request.

We believe that the true cost of the game should be known upfront, so no games published by the studio will contain any advertisements or microtransactions, characteristics extremely common in many mobile applications. After the initial purchase, the player will face no pay walls, no time gates and no advertising to experience all aspects of the game. All expansions will be distributed free to players or available for purchase at a fixed price.

doc kwyjibo

Doc has enjoyed playing games all of his life. His inspirations and games of interest focus mainly on platforming (Super Mario Brothers), adventure (The Legend of Zelda), and racing games (Gran Turismo). He enjoys creating accessible games with depth as they are approachable to the widest audience. His highly technical nature mean that games developed in isolation are often precise and clinically designed and implemented, but the visual assets require some assistance.

Growing up, he enjoyed watching The Simpsons, who defined the word kwyjibo. He took a liking to this word, defined in the show (S1E2: Bart the Genius) to be a big, dumb, balding North American ape with no chin and a short temper. Doc started using this in some form in his online aliases in the early 2000s because it describes his features all incorrectly. Following his Ph.D. graduation, he started to using the doc_kwyjibo alias on most platforms.

Doc has a background in mathematics and his Ph.D. focused on topics within numerical linear algebra and numerical optimisation. This work centred on reconstructing objects based on digitisation techniques to be used in fluid simulations. He has also studied a broad range of other mathematical fields from an applications perspective.

Doc Kwyjibo is an Australian based programmer and has been working in his craft for 20 years. His first application was a one player BlackJack WinForms application built in Visual Basic 6 where he scanned the faces of a deck of cards to use as images within the program. Doc now primarily codes in C# and JavaScript, but knows a wide variety of languages from his academic studies. Recent projects that doc has worked on include detailed numerical analysis and data visualisation, website building, web scrapers, and chatbots with twitch and discord integration.
